Medical Recap:
August 1st- Sept 15th
Fri, Aug 1, 10:00 AM – Tue, Aug 5, 3:00 PM
Following her second round of chemo, she experienced symptoms that were beyond expectation, so we visited the Acute Care at the Cancer Center. She was immediately sent to the ER for a heart attack and stayed in the ICU for several days. Her medical team was steadfast and so supportive. By now, Jimmy’s become pretty familiar with the food downstairs in the cafe, and Ami binged the show “Parenthood” during her stay.
Fri, Aug 5, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Cardio PA reviewed new heart medications following the recent hospital stay.
Mon, Aug 11, 7:45 AM – 8:30 AM
Labs to prep for Chemo. Dr. Lea ordered a follow-up Echo for the afternoon.
Mon, Aug 11, 1:30- 3:30 PM
An echocardiogram is an ultrasound test that checks the structure and function of your heart. With chemo scheduled for Wednesday, Dr. needed to make sure she was ready.
Wed, Aug 13, 7:45 AM – Thu, Aug 14, 5:00 PM
After some uncertainty leading up to today, Ami was given the green light for round three! Only, this time we were back in the hospital (instead of the Cancer Center) for monitoring. She was able to leave the next day!
Wed, Aug 20, 11:00 AM
Lab work came back in the normal range! Alright, alright, alright.
Wed, Aug 27, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, overnight
UTSW called Ami and Bobette as they were on the way home from the CT Scan for a possible blood clot, urging her to go to the ER. She was admitted to the hospital (eventually… 1:30am). Dr. Lea et al treated this as a medication failure, so they made adjustments to her blood thinner prescriptions.
Thurs, Aug 28, all day
Considering the unexpected hospital stay, we were concerned she wouldn’t be able to have her scheduled procedure to remove fluid that had returned. Thankfully, she and her team persisted successfully, and as Jimmy says “we busted out of there” sooner than we anticipated. She’s feeling a lot of relief from the discomfort!
Tues, Sept 2, 7:45 AM – 5:30 PM
Ami has the process down! Back to the Cancer Center for labs then infusions! They administered the drip a little slower considering the latest hospital stay.
Tues, Sept 9, 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM
Labs looked mostly normal, they noted her white blood cell count was low. Ami, Av, and G went to what’s becoming the new favorite Chinese restaurant, Wu Wei Din, on the way home! This was our second visit there and we made it home with lots of leftovers.
Tues, Sept 16, 7:45 AM –
She is scheduled for a morning appointment with her Cancer+Heart team then labs will follow.
