Chemo 3
After some uncertainty leading up to today, Ami was given the green light for round three. Only, this time we were back in the hospital for monitoring. She was able to leave the next day!

Echo
An echocardiogram is an ultrasound test that checks the structure and function of your heart. With chemo scheduled for Wednesday, Dr. needed to make sure she was ready.

Labs
Lab work is done prior to each chemo round. Dr. Lea ordered a follow-up Echo for the afternoon.

Cardio Follow Up
Cardio PA reviewed new heart medications following recent hospital stay.

ER - ICU Stay
Following her second round of chemo, she experienced symptoms that were beyond expectation, so we visited the Acute Care at the Cancer Center. She was immediately sent to the ER for a heart attack and stayed in the ICU for several days. Her medical team was steadfast and so supportive. By now, Jimmy’s become pretty familiar with the food downstairs in the cafe, and Ami binged the show “Parenthood”.

Chemo 2
The first round was roughly 30 minutes inpatient and did not include all of the medications that this round (and going forward) had. Round 2 of Chemo was an all day affair, outpatient at the Cancer Center. Early morning labs, processing and waiting, then chemotherapy until afternoon. She’s so grateful to have her new iPad from King of Heart (King Family), port pillow from Rachel, Dolly Parton tote from Jessica, and several other comfort items from friends.

Haircut
See what we mean by being able to pull of any style? Dawn graced Ami with a shorter “do”. Surrounded by close friends in person and FaceTime (they figured it out 😜), Jimmy and the “kids” for support. Special shout out to Dawn for the cut and style!

Wig Appointment
Ami, Avri, Gunnar, and Dawn had a fun day at MiMi’s Wig Salon! We learned that she can pull off just about any hairstyle. We even went home with a great starter wig. They say to expect hair to fall out following Round 2!

Laparoscopy/ Inpatient Chemo 1
Prior to the laparoscopy, there was uncertainty. Yet a possibility that Ami would have a hysterectomy today and Dr. Lea was prepared to move forward with that surgery. Instead, she drained (a lot of) fluid from her abdominal area, and set forth a treatment plan consisting of debulking an ovarian tumor + cancer that had spread.
She started Round 1 of Chemo Friday and went home Saturday.

Initial UTSW Oncology Visit
Dr. Lea had reviewed the scans prior to this appointment and had already scheduled Ami’s laparoscopy for Wednesday. She needed to “get in there” to see what was going on.

Initial ER Visit
Ami initially went to Urgent Care for awful stomach pains. They sent her to the ER for scans.
